Explore Lake Chiemsee, Bavaria's largest lake, and the surrounding landscape
Today’s route takes you on a tour through parts of the oldest nature reserve in Bavaria, the Eggstätter Lake District. You will cycle through forests, fragrant meadows, and past some of the 18 lakes that make up this district to Höslwang, a typical Bavarian village. Extend the tour and cycle to Amerang, where you can visit the German Car Museum and the Historical Farmhouse Museum. On your return to Prien you’ll be accompanied by a magnificent panoramic view of the Upper Bavarian Alps.

Today, you’ll complete a circuit of Lake Chiemsee, discovering places of interest along the way, including the Roman Museum in Seebruck, and the Horse Museum in Arlaching. Enjoy lunch along the lakeshore and cool off in the refreshing waters of Lake Chiemsee.

Enjoy a day out of the saddle today and take the boat from Prien to the Herreninsel island and visit the Herrenchiemsee castle, built under King Ludwig II. On the return, you will stop at the island Fraueninsel, home to the oldest remaining German-speaking female convent on the northern side of the Alps. Explore the beautiful gardens, the island potteries, the fish smoke-houses, and the romantic outdoor restaurant areas at the lake.
In the morning take the bus or train to Übersee. You’ll cycle past colourful meadows, surrounded by spectacular mountains. Following the tranquil river Tiroler Ache, you will cycle via Marquartstein back to Grassau. Quiet, shady paths will then lead you through the Rottauer Filze (moorland) to Bernau and along the lake back to Prien.

Start your day with a boat trip to Seebruck. Your cycle route takes you via Truchtlaching an der Alz to the lakeside Benedictine Seeon monastery. In the pretty town of Gstadt, you will return to the shores of Lake Chiemsee and cycle via Breitbrunn and Rimsting back to the hotel where you can enjoy a dip in the indoor pool.

or Beer and sausages, and if this is what you want then you will not be
disappointed. However there is much more to Bavarian cuisine. Meat and
freshwater fish are heavily used but vegetarians are also well catered for.
Germans tend to follow similar eating patterns to the UK, with breakfast,
followed by a small lunch, and large evening meal, dinners tends to be taken
fairly early and restaurants will start serving from 6pm. Throughout the
towns there are a good choice of differing places to eat, the most
traditional of these are the beer halls, these are not just places to drink
the local brew, they are also offer traditional cuisine, they can be nice for
lunch as they offer small plates of tasty morcels, you will also find the
local bratwurst in served them. The most social of places are the beer
gardens, these offer really good food in an outdoor setting many have indoor
eating areas as well, don't let the name put you off they also normally have
a fairly good wine list too. Then there are the restaurants you will find in
most towns a good choice of both German and International cuisine.

Garden-Hotel Reinhart, Prein am Chiemsee
Garden-Hotel Reinhart is set 100 yards from lake in Prien am Chiemsee, in the
heart of Lake Chiemsee holiday region. The hotel offers a spa area including
an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and free Wi-Fi.
The rooms are furnished in traditional Bavarian country-style and most rooms
have a balcony. All rooms have a flat-screen satellite TV and a bathroom.
Garden-Hotel Reinhart is located directly next to the Primavera Water Park,
and is 100 yards from the wharf with direct connections to both Herren and
Frauen Islands. Several golf courses are within 3.1 miles.

representative will meet you at the beginning of the week to go through the
route notes and point out particular places of interest.

The tour itself normally begins at the start hotel in Prien am Chiemsee on
the afternoon of Day 1 in the itinerary.
The flight inclusive prices for this holiday include rail to Prien an
Chiemsee, take a taxi (payable locally) from the station to your hotel.
If you are booking a land only package then we can usually arrange rail to
Prien an Chiemsee for you for an additional charge.
Average temperatures in summer are in the region of 25oC-30oC. The warmest
month is usually July whilst the coldest is mainly January. Every month has
its share of precipitation on an average of 14 days per month.
You will need spending money for meals not included in the itinerary and all
drinks. We suggest €25 per day to cover a few drinks if not then €10 per
day. On the days where lunch or dinner is not included expect to spend
€10-€15 for lunch and €15-€35 for dinner.
