Terrain: This is a trip of two halves; the Cilento region and the Amalfi Coast. Through the Cilento area you will mainly be riding along coastal roads with few cars and careful drivers. This is a hilly/mountainous area and so there aren’t any cycle paths, but the road surfaces are compact, although you may encounter some short sections with potholes, on days 2,3 and 4. You will come across more traffic around Paestum on days 2 and 4 and near Casel Velino. Day 6 will prove the more difficult of the routes as you will encounter the most climbs and busiest roads; (We avoid the busier summer months however so this should be minimal). The Amalfi Coast is quite different as there’s only one road along the coast (and it can get busy, especially on the weekends!). With that being said the road is winding so the car speeds remain low. You’ll find less traffic in the mornings and early afternoons when you will be doing most of your riding. For this tour we recommend hybrid bikes however this route is also suitable for road bikes, please contact the office for more information.
