Terrain: Your tour will take you through a mixture of flat and rolling countryside, mainly on quiet country roads and cycle paths. The majority of the roads are tarmac (90%), with short sections on gravel (10%). Some roads will have local traffic, especially leading into the towns, but generally the roads chosen for this holiday are quiet. The road surfaces are in good condition overall, but there are a couple of sections that aren’t as well maintained. The trip is mainly along the Valle Umbra, but there is a bit of climbing! This includes heading up to hilltop towns, so around 2-3 kms (such as Montefalco, Assisi, but the gradient is never more than 10%). This tour is not suitable for road bikes.
