Catch a glimpse some of Vienna’s major sights, on the run, before the masses descend Learn about all the best runs in the city from an expert local guide See some of Vienna’s most popular running routes Potentially travel to some outer districts to see a few more niche parks and running spots in Vienna
If, like us, you firmly believe that a holiday should not get in the way of a good run, then fear not – we’ve got you covered! Whether you need us as a little motivation to get out of bed, or just because you want to see where the locals go for a run, then this is the tour for you. On meeting at the main entrance to St. Stephan’s Cathedral, we’ll start with a light warm up and some stretching before heading off in the direction of Stubentor station, the official start of the run. And if you don’t consider yourself to be the speediest runner, not to worry. Our pace will be defined by the slowest runner so everyone is comfortable during the run. We’ll then embark on what’s known as the ‘Ring run,” a five-kilmometre loop that also happens to be one of Vienna’s most popular runs. If you’re wondering why this particular run is so popular, the ring takes in all the major sights and sounds of our fair city, so not only are you getting in some exercise – you’ll be passing some epic scenery while you do it! The ring is also used as the glorious finale for the Vienna City Marathon, as well as many other runs and get-active campaigns and parades. Some of what you’ll see as we run includes the State Opera House, the Ringturm (the first office tower of its kind in Vienna), the old Stock Exchange, Parliament building, the art and natural history museums, and several leafy parks (just to name a few). While you may well have been able to find the run by yourself, our guides will be sure to throw in a few twists and turns that may give you a little Viennese secret, or point you in the direction of other good running spots in the city. Plus, since we’re locals, we can also point out some of our favourite food and food and drink recommendations along the way. Following the run, your guide will be happy to direct you back to your accommodations, or recommend even more things to see and do in Vienna.
