Trekking rare mountain gorillas in the misty mountains of Central Africa, where the last few surviving mountain gorillas may be seen, is one of Africas greatest wildlife experiences. On this short Ugandan safari, there is also time to admire the lush highlands of southwest Uganda - the Switzerland of Africa - dotted with patches of tangled rain forest, picturesque lakes, friendly villages and rural landscapes.

Accommodation: Comfortable locally run lodge or tented camps with en-suite facilities
We have an early departure from Kampala after meeting our guide. Our route takes us around the western shores of Lake Victoria before crossing the equator and continuing south westwards to the Kigezi Highlands and our community run accommodation.
We are up early this morning to get to the park gates where we are met by our guide who will be with us for the day trekking the rare and endangered mountain gorillas. Gorillas are extremely sociable and interactive primates, and groups normally number 12-20 individuals led by an alpha male, sometimes known as the silverback. Trekking through the thick forest can be tough going but all the effort is worthwhile when we come face to face with the family.After spending time with the mountain gorillas time comes to head back to our accommodation and depending on timing we may have the opportunity to visit the local school and village.
We are back in the vehicle today to return to Kampala after our express tour.We aim to arrive in Kampala early this evening.
