Explore the magnificent wildlife of Tanzanias northern wildlife reserves...
Tanzania's most famous parks and reserves are home to some of East Africas highest concentrations of wildlife, including the Big 5, but also 300 mammal and over 500 bird species. This tour takes you on safari to not only see the animals in their natural habitats, but to enjoy the magnificent landscapes and sunrises and sunsets.
TOUR STYLE:
This Short Safari and Treks tour is operated by a locally based (African) ground handler who has maintained standards at a high level over a period of time. We believe that working with a local operator in this way assists the community to benefit in a sustainable way from tourism. At the same time it provides our clients with the extensive local knowledge and enthusiasm of the local staff and guides employed to ensure your safari is as enjoyable as it is memorable.
Travelling out of town across the Maasai plains our journey takes us to the attractive Lake Manyara National Park where we enjoy our first game drive. If we are lucky we may encounter the tree-climbing lions that Manyara is famed for and if the timing is right, the abundance of flamingo dotting the soda lakes edge.
After exploring the park, we head to our camp which is situated on the outskirts of the park itself.
This morning our journey takes up the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley and into the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. Traversing the rim of the crater with its sweeping views, we stop for a photo opportunity at the lookout point and the Olduvai Gorge - one of the most important fossil sites in the world.
We enter the Serengeti National Park this afternoon and game drive across the plains to our designated camp for the night set in the wilderness of this magnificent park.
Departing in the cool of the early morning we head out from camp on an early morning game drive to explore the numerous species of mammals, reptiles and prolific birdlife this park is famous for.
Depending on the seasons we may get to witness the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra as they seek new pastures - a sight not to miss!
After our rewarding game drive, we ascend the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater to our scenic camp for the night.
Waking up on the rim of the crater we are welcomed with stunning views before descending to the floor of the crater. Here we will spend the morning exploring this beautiful reserve, home to a fantastic array of animals including the Big 5 - lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant.
This afternoon we leave the crater and head towards our camp on the edge of Lake Manyara National Park.
We travel through Mto Wa Mbu and on to the gem that is Tarangire National Park with the iconic baobab trees. The park is less frequently visited but we are rewarded by some large herds of both elephant and buffalo.
Late this afternoon we make our way back to our comfortable hotel in Arusha for our last night on safari.
This morning, after breakfast we board the shuttle service back to Nairobi were we arrive late in the evening.
