Welcome to Kenya! We depart early in the morning from Nairobi and cross the Great Rift Valley while taking in the amazing views and on out towards the Maasai plains and our camp on the edge of the National Reserve. After unpacking and freshening up we venture into the park for a game drive.
The Maasai Mara National reserve brings to reality many peoples classic image of Africa with rolling grasslands, open vistas and herds of animals. We are unlikely to be disappointed and we will explore the park on both a morning and an afternoon game drive today. We might also be lucky enough to visit one of the local manyattas to gain insight into the traditional way of life.
We leave the plains of the Maasai Mara and head further along the Great Rift Valley to one of Kenyas jewels, Lake Nakuru.
The park often has a pink fringe from the large flamingo populations that come to the lake along with other birdlife. But it is not just birdlife that the park is known for as the park is home to rhino and the ever elusive leopard.
We enjoy the afternoon in the park game driving.
Travelling out of the Great Rift Valley today, we pass by the fresh waters of Lake Naivasha before arriving in Nairobi.We will also have the opportunity to browse some craft markets and pick up some souvenirs on the way.
